The Brickell Flatiron is a 64-floor, 224-meter luxury residential skyscraper located in the economic-financial district in downtown Miami (USA).

In particular, the activities of the Studio Cattivelli focus on the executive and construction design of the elements located in the Hall on the ground floor of the building.
Using 3D BIM design software integrated with the Navisworks’ program used for the complete building and related static calculations.

Vertical fins with curved shapes in laminated glass, 5 and 8 meters (around 16 and 26 feet) high hung in the upper part by means of brackets and fastenings to steel reticular structures fixed to the floor, were designed, calculated and built.
The system is designed to admit long-term deformations of the building's concrete and dampen, through special insulators, the vibrations generated by the vehicles passing through the parking lots located on the floors immediately above the hall.
The supporting substructures are completely hidden in the false ceiling while at the base they are inserted into the thickness of the floating floor.

Another peculiar feature of the fins is the retractable LED backlighting inserted on the edges of the ultra-clear glasses with an architectural polished edge finish, due to the internal refraction of the light creates an illumination of the edge of the fins.
All this was achieved with a specific lighting study and specific engineering and verification with real mock-up.

Two spectacular chandeliers were also created for the hall, each consisting of 12 sheets of ultra-clear tempered glass for LED light diffusion from above, with visible blade heights up to 2.5 centimeters (around one inch.)
