Modern architecture is increasingly aimed at complex and dynamic forms whose ideas are developed in the project process supported by 3D modeling; the executive project of the Gemelli Cuore in Rome designed by the Binini Partners studio was recently concluded, with which Studio Cattivelli ing. Fausto collaborated in the execution of the casing and the variable geometry bands. At the same time, regulations already require the management of project data in BIM (Building Information Modeling) mode, therefore in authoring programs where the multidisciplinary data contained in the model enrich the project with useful information, with the aim of supporting the entire process of conception, realization and management of a work.

The complexity of the shapes of the external casing for each family of components generates a multitude of models which makes an adaptive geometry necessary which, through the programmed management of the parameters, allows the generation of the various complex architectures and their modeling.

The activity of the BIM Manager Dario Cattivelli, responsible for this activity in Studio Cattivelli ing. Fausto, in coordination with other professional figures, is to develop techniques for modeling envelope systems with overlapping levels of components, for example: carpentry, panels, coverings, integrating different types of modeling.

The final objective is to verify the implementation of the BIM model of complex architectures, moving from simplified components in the executive project to more defined objects for the construction project, overcoming the duplication of models with different definition scales.

The general application of parametric models nested on the shared BIM model would require a quantity of data that is not easily manageable with high graphic performance requirements, therefore it was considered more advantageous for parametric studies applied to the production phase to identify facade typologies representative of the overall envelope which, using the general BIM model, integrated these nested models representing the entire complex.
