27 December 2024On 15 December 2024, the "Memorial 14 August 2018" dedicated to the 43 victims of the collapse of the Morandi Bridge was inaugurated, with the artistic and architectural direction entrusted to the Stefano Boeri Architetti studio. This space, conceived as a place of respect, memory, testimony and denunciation, includes the Museum of Memory, the Bioclimatic Greenhouse and the surrounding gardens along the Polcevera embankment, located near the former Pila 9 of the Morandi Bridge, considered as a symbolic position which evokes the catastrophe of August 14, 2018.
For the drafting of the executive project, the Palaser Srl company selected the RTP composed of Sibilla Associati Srl, Rocca Bacci Associati Snc, Neostudio Architetti Associati and Dr. Agronomist Paola Spagnolli.
Studio Cattivelli ing. Fausto, on behalf of the contractor PALASER S.R.L., has created specialist reports with static and structural calculations for the curtain walls and glass roofing of the Bioclimatic Greenhouse which are part of the main structural steel work designed by Studio Sibilla Associati; the client requested controlled internal climate performance, to guarantee brightness, temperatures and humidity suitable for tropical vegetation, using specific parameters set by the specialist agronomist, obtained with the contribution of low-emissivity blue line glass, filter curtains both on the vertical wall than in coverage.
The southern part of the project, which houses the Bioclimatic Greenhouse, is a multifunctional space that includes a bar and greenhouse connected directly to the museum; the rooms are separated by two imposing windows. The space of the Serra is rendered as a new enveloping topography crossed by a zig zag path that connects with the external garden. Therefore, the multifunctional area is positioned as a transitional environment between inside and outside, with profiles of land and vegetation that evoke the relationship between nature and artifice, reflecting the complexity of the territory and its history, made up of different soils, variable orography , terracing and infrastructure challenges. Inside, the selected collection of tree ferns and palms includes 43 different species in memory of the victims of the tragedy.
